Now that the summer holidays are over, we are set for an exciting new school year in BC. With this, Return-It School is also back, as we officially re-opened on August 30, 2023. Don't forget to register for this year's program if you haven't already!

When you register, you'll be able to request free recycling bins, fundraise for any projects your school or class would like, request a video presentation for your school, and get access to our online activity book where students can interactively learn about recycling.

In order for schools to more easily access the resources our program provides, we’ve made a few key changes to the teacher’s dashboard.

Over the summer, we updated the reporting system for your beverage containers. On your Teacher’s Dashboard profile, it’s now easier than ever to update how many of each beverage container type you’ve returned, as the categories of beverage containers match the categories that appear in your Return-It Express account.

The four categories (also known as sorts) are: aluminum cans, beer cans, plastic/polycoat/metal, and glass beverage containers.

This system ensures that you don’t need to worry about separating juice pouches, juice boxes, and other plastic/metal - instead they can all be counted as the same category which saves a lot of time and effort.

Another update we made allows schools to quickly access resources, such as our educational Video Presentation. You can easily pull this up and share it with your students. You can still request the physical Return-It School Video Presentation Kit if you prefer, which includes activity books and pencil crayons for your students, 3 medals for students who volunteer in the video presentation activity, and a teacher’s guide.

Don’t forget that all schools registered in the Return-It School Program can request free recycling bins for their schools. You can keep these bins for as long as they’re usable to help keep your classrooms clean, collect beverage containers and raise funds for any projects your school or class would like.

Finally, registered schools have the opportunity to participate in our annual Story Contest. We look forward to seeing those submissions throughout the year and will announce the winners in June 2024.

Until then, happy learning and recycling!
